| Quotes
from Radio about 'Small Town' CD -
"Small Town is one of the finest albums
I've had the pleasure of hearing in '93....congratulations....on a
really excellent debut album." - Chuck Wilson, KLCR FM,
Ireland
"A most entertaining CD.
Excellent production, performance and choice of songs." - Bob
Preedy, BBC York
"Keep taking the pills! They seem
to be working!" - Wally Whyton, BBC Radio 2
Excerpts from 'Small Town' CD Reviews
-
"Five of the eleven tracks come from
the hand of mandolin player/vocalist Randy Gambill, 'Green Light'
being particularly good..." - Venue Magazine, Bath, England
"They are rhythmically and melodically
creative and in Randy Gambill have a songwriter who is able to
conjure a picture of small town America that I've not experienced
since first hearing Lucinda Williams and Steve Earle.
'Moonshine Whiskey' is a first rate song made superb by the
introduction of guest dobro player Paul Godden. I have a
similar affection for 'Small Town', the title track, which has the
combination of Randy's exposed vocals and Paul Godden's dobro."
- British Bluegrass News
"Gambill's 'Gypsy Breeze' is
radio play pick. Title cut by Gambill fits the country sound
and is sure-fire due to be covered by others. Why's it taken so
long?...Air play rating - 8" - Country Music Round-up

CD - Kings Mountain in
Concert |
|
The CD, spearheaded by
R.G. Absher, was recorded on August 29, 1998, at the Kings Mountain
National Military Park, South Carolina. The purpose was to
commemorate the Kings Mountain campaign that took place in the early
autumn of 1780 during the American Revolutionary War. The
music represents the heavy influence of Old World cultures such as
Celtic ballads, Scottish hornpipes and ayres, and Irish jigs and
reels, which would have been prevalent during that timeframe. There
are also historical narrations provided by musician/historian R.G.
Absher. This is certainly one of the rawest (live) CDs I've heard or
been involved with, nonetheless, one of my favorites. Probably
because, the descendents of three of the artist's playing on the
album actually fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain.
